Mission & Vision
At Bon Secours, we continue a tradition of care for the sick and poor that began in Paris in 1824 with the founding of the Sisters of Bon Secours. In 1881, the Sisters arrived in the United States and gradually built a national ministry that includes us to this day.
Bon Secours, which means “good help” in French, lives through our hospitals and medical facilities. Good help also lives in our physicians, nurses and staff, who are recognized leaders in providing unparalleled care.
Bon Secours Virginia is proud to be the fourth-largest and only faith-based health system in Virginia, composed of Bon Secours in Richmond and Bon Secours in Hampton Roads. We together a network of hospitals, primary care practices, ambulatory care sites and continuing care facilities to provide exceptional, compassionate health care services to thousands of Virginians. The not-for-profit Catholic health system employs nearly 11,000 people.
Our mission is one with Bon Secours: to bring compassion to healthcare and to be good help to those in need. We provide supportive and comfortable accommodations to our families to effectively promote health and wholeness in an environment that feels like home.
Our vision it to always deliver responsible, collaborative and consistent support to our families every time they pass through our doors and into our lives. Our approach to this level of hospitality is inspired by the Mission of Bon Secours.
